One of the most important update is the shift of theme settings to WordPress customizer, now number of theme settings will be available on the WordPress Customizer screen.

So, now onwards you can watch your changes take place in real time and make sure which change you want to save and which you want to discard.

I believe this is a nice update looking at the number of newbie Genesis users, the theme settings will be available at both the places the WordPress customizer as well as the normal theme settings.

The popular “Primary Navigation Extras” will not be available on Genesis 2.1, So if you want to add custom links like Twitter or RSS, you have to create a custom menu item and give it proper CSS class

  • Prevent unnecessary calls to update server.
